The Colgate University is a private liberal arts college in Madison County. It was founded in 1819 as baptistisches seminary, but is not now denominational. In 2007, Colgate was ranked 18 of the best liberal arts colleges in the United States. According to " Hidden Ivies " the university is one of the best thirty of the United States.

History
