Colin Davis (racing driver)

Colin Charles Houghton Davis ( born July 29, 1933, Marylebone, London, † December 19, 2012 in Oranjezicht, Cape Town ) was a British racing driver.

Career

As the son of the legendary Bentley Boy and winner of Le Mans Sammy Davis (who later became sports editor of Autocar magazine was ) was Colin Davis provisionally advertising manager, who with a 500 cc Formula 3 Cooper race before he set out to Italy drove from where he started his own racing career. He participated in two Formula 1 Grand Prix world championship race and reached the Grand Prix of Italy 1959 in a Scuderia Centro Sud Cooper -Maserati the 11th Place. He also participated in several Formula 1 races outside of the championship standings.

He shared the winning Porsche 904 GTS at the Targa Florio in 1964 with Antonio Pucci.

Between 1958 and 1966, Colin Davis himself seven times in the 24- hour race at Le Mans at the start. Making its debut in 1958, he reached together with Alejandro de Tomaso eleventh place in the overall standings.

His best finish at Le Mans in 1966, he reached a works Porsche 906 with partner Joseph Siffert he finished the race in fourth place overall.
