Colin Hendry

Edward Colin Hendry ( born December 7, 1965 in Keith, Scotland ) is a former Scottish footballer.

Career

As a player

In the club

First, Hendry played as a striker for smaller local clubs in Keith, before he began his professional career at FC Dundee in the Scottish Premier League in 1983. In 1987 he moved to England to Blackburn Rovers where you retrained him as the defender. Here he played more than 100 games, before he was taken in 1989 by Manchester City under contract. After the establishment of new coach Peter Reid, he returned to his old club Blackburn back with his new manager Kenny Dalglish and won the 1995 British Championship.

1998 Hendry was committed by Dick Advocaat for the Glasgow Rangers for four million pounds; there he was Advocaat at Coventry City, Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Blackpool FC on loan who, before he ended his career.

In the National Team

Hendry was also a successful Scottish national team. Although he was only appointed with 27 years in the selection, he completed 51 games and took over as captain in part at the European Football Championship in 1996 and at the World Cup 1998. Hendry is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame.

As a coach

In June 2004, Hendry took a job as manager of Blackpool FC, but was discharged in November 2005 because of lack of success. Most recently he was employed by the Scottish club Clyde FC, ​​stepped back there but for family reasons, on 18 January 2008.
