Colin Hodgkinson

Colin Hodgkinson ( born October 14, 1945 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England ) is a British bass player of international repute, who was involved because of its unusual way of playing a diffizilen chord game and its proven virtuosity in many major productions of jazz, blues and rock music. Hodgkinson is left-handed.

Life and work

Hodgkinson, also known as Colin " Bomber" Hodgkinson, began his career as a professional musician 1966. 1969 he played in the band of Alexis Korner, who opened the legendary Rolling Stones concert in London's Hyde Park. In 1970 he published the album Both Sides under the band name " New Church ".

In 1971, Hodgkinson with Ron Aspery (keyboards, flute, saxophone ) and Tony Hicks (drums), the jazz-rock band " Back Door ". Their debut album in 1972 was a surprise success. In 1974 she went with Emerson, Lake & Palmer on a world tour. After line-up changes, the band broke up in 1977.

1979 Hodgkinson played back with Alexis Korner. The two also appeared as a duo " Alexis & Colin ." An appearance in Paris in 1980 was recorded live and later appeared on various albums. In February 2008, toured with Colin Hodgkinson, Chris Rea and his band Earbook project, The Return of the Fabulous Hofner Blue Notes. Since 2011 he is member of the Jon Lord Blues Project.

Equipment

Hodgkinson plays since he was 16, a primarily, revised several times over the years, Fender Precision Bass from 1962. Moreover, he has a 1963 Sunburst Fender Precision Bass as a replacement instrument, as well as a 1988's Warwick Thumb 5 - string fretless bass. Basically he used Rotosound strings of the manufacturer.

As Hodgkinson amplifier uses an Ampeg SVT 8 × 10 cabinet, and MARK and AER combos.
