Colin Sturgess

Colin Sturgess (* December 15 1968 in Wakefield ) is a retired British racing driver and World Champion.

Colin Sturgess, who grew up in South Africa, was active in road and rail. In 1986 he won the silver medal in the individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games in 1986 in Edinburgh. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he finished fourth in the pursuit. He was world champion in the individual pursuit on the track, in the following year British road champion in 1989. In the Track World Championships 1991 in Stuttgart, he finished third in the pursuit.

1993 ended Sturgess his cycling career. He graduated, emigrated to Australia and was out of there a cycling magazine. In addition, he oversaw cyclists as coach as the South Africans David George, who won at the UCI Road World Championships 1997, Silver Medal ( U23 ).

Animated by this success came Colin Sturgess for a year as an active cyclist back, ran successfully at the Australian championships and won in 1998 with the England team at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, the silver medal in the Team Pursuit ( with ao Bradley Wiggins and Robert Hayles ). He also won several small road race in the UK, the Tour of the Cotswolds.

Today Colin Sturgess lives in the Hunter Valley in Australia and has worked in the wine.
