Colin Wilson (ice hockey)

Colin Wilson ( born October 20, 1989 in Greenwich, Connecticut ) is an American professional ice hockey player Canadian origin. He currently plays for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League on the position of the striker. His father Carey, a former Canadian national team, 13 seasons for the Calgary Flames, Hartford Whalers and New York Rangers in the NHL was active.

Career

Wilson played during his high school years in Canada. Towards the end of the season 2005/ 06 he joined the U.S. National Team Development Program of the American Hockey Association, where he held various junior national teams. This he took in 2006 at the U18 Junior World Cup finals. There, defeated the Americans, among others, with the later first selected in the NHL Entry Drafts 2006 and 2007, Erik Johnson and Patrick Kane, Finland in the final 3-1 and won the world title. The following year, Wilson played again at the World Championships for U18 Juniors, at this time he won the silver medal, but together with his teammates James van Riemsdyk was top scorer of the tournament.

In summer 2007, Wilson then moved to Boston University. There he plays while studying for the university team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and scored in 37 matches 35 points scorer. At the end of 2007, he was re-appointed in the national squad for the U20 Junior World Championship 2008, where he finished as top scorer of the tournament. In 2008 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the following summer in the first round at the seventh position overall by the Nashville Predators, who had previously exchanged their draft law with the New York Islanders to select Wilson.
