Collected works

A complete edition has the ambition to bring together the literary oeuvre of an author in a series of publications. Will take into account both writings, which were published during the lifetime of the author, works that were in the estate, letters, speech manuscripts, etc., and often reports and quotes from third parties to other works, which were the time of publication of the issue is no longer available.

One can distinguish certain critical or historical- critical editions based on the scientific preparation of the texts between read-only editions and for scientific research, in practice there are also intermediate forms, as concrete process, the editing guidelines of the issue has to be taken.

Designations such as plant expenditure and Collected Works can also denote total expenditure. Partially able to hide behind but issues that include only a selection of the complete works. Often these alternative names are also just chosen to delineate these older, obsolete existing text output of an author.

For articles on individual total expenditure see the Category: Complete Edition.
