Colleen Atwood

Colleen Atwood ( born 1950 in Yakima, Washington) is an American costume designer. She won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design in 2003 with the film Chicago, 2006, the movie Memoirs of a Geisha and 2011 with the film Alice in Wonderland.

Life

Atwood studied fashion design at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. In 1981 she participated in the filming of ragtime as an assistant to Patrizia von Brandenstein for the first time with a movie. 1985 Atwood designed the costumes for the concert film Bring on the Night of the musician Sting, for whose concerts and music videos they always designed dresses in later years. She worked on several films with Tim Burton and Jonathan Demme. Atwood was nominated for an Oscar until 2011, a total of nine times, three times she could win it. The price of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded Atwood also for two films.
