Colleen Sostorics

Colleen Sostorics ( born December 17, 1979 in Kennedy, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who plays for the Calgary Oval X -Treme in the Western Women's Hockey League since 1999. With the Canadian national team, she won three gold medals at the Winter Olympics as well as six medals at World Championships.

Career

Hockey

Colleen Sostorics began in her hometown of Kennedy with ice hockey and played in the local boys' team until the age of 17 years. In the season of 1996, she was appointed captain of her team, which played at this time on the Bantam level. The Canada Winter Games in 1995 Sostorics played for the team Saskatchewan. Two years later she also took part in the Canadian National U18 Championships. After her junior time she got the offer to study at the University of Calgary and for its hockey team, to play Calgary Dinos in the CIAU. Other Sports

In her youth Sostorics played alongside Hockey still football and softball. In 1997 she won the regional championships her age group in all three sports. She was also honored in 1994 and 1995 as most valuable player in the regional softball championship. Since her college days she plays in the summer and won the 2003 Rugby with Team Alberta, the Canadian national rugby championship.

Others

After winning the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 2002, a street was named after Sostorics in her hometown Kennedy - Colleen Sostorics Avenue. In 2004 she finished her studies at the University of Calgary with a Bachelor in Economics.
