The College of William & Mary (also known as William & Mary, or W & M ) is a public university in Williamsburg in eastern U.S. state of Virginia. Founded in 1693, it is according to Harvard University, the second oldest university in the United States. It is one of the best public universities in the country, called a Public Ivy. Today here are enrolled 7650 students. Because they meet extremely high admission requirements, the graduates of the College of William & Mary are among the most coveted in research and industry in the United States. In recent years, the College of William & Mary has repeatedly been chosen by U.S. News & World Report as the best small public university in the United States. In 2012, the U.S. News national ranking for partial aspect of " quality of teaching in the undergraduate program " is W & M ranked sixth.

History

The College of William and Mary 1693 in honor of William III. and Mary II founded and was therefore one of the Colonial Colleges. The main building was designed by Sir Christopher Wren.

Sports

The sports team of the College is called The Tribe. It is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. Your mascot is a griffin.
