Collegium Vocale Gent

The Collegium Vocale Gent is established in 1970 by a native of Ghent Philippe Herreweghe professional choir.

In the 1970s, the Collegium Vocale was one of the first choirs who applied the insights of historical performance practice. Very quickly, renowned Baroque conductors such as Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman and Nikolaus Harnoncourt became aware of the choir. Harnoncourt made ​​with the choir a highly acclaimed recording of the complete cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Collegium Vocale 's reputation is also the interpretation of the works of composers of the Central German Baroque, Bach and Heinrich Schütz. The choir's repertoire now includes works from the Renaissance to Romanticism.

Since 1989, the Orchestra of the Collegium Vocale Gent, the ever blue-chip international Baroque performers as needed to act together with the choir.
