Collin Benjamin

Collin " Chippa " Benjamin ( born August 3, 1978 in Windhoek ) is a retired Namibian footballer. He was employed as an allrounder both as full-back as well as in defensive midfield or right. In the Namibian national team, which he led as captain, he often played as a striker.

Career

He started his career in FC Civics Windhoek Namibia at. In 1999 he moved to Germany, where he played from July 1999 to December 1999 at the Hamburg club Germania Schnelsen and from January 2000 to December 2000 at Raspo Elmshorn.

Benjamin was from July 2001 to end of May 2011 to the senior squad of Hamburger SV, making him the longest-serving players of the team. At the end of the 2010/11 season, his contract was not renewed.

Beginning of June 2011, he joined free transfer to second division club TSV 1860 Munich. He signed a contract until 30 June 2012, which included an option to extend for one year. On July 17, 2011 Benjamin was under coach Reiner Maurer in the match against Eintracht Braunschweig then for the first time for the "Lions" on the court. End of June 2012 was Benjamin known not to renew his expiring at the end of the season contract with the Munich and to end his career.

Achievements

Benjamin won the Intertoto Cup with HSV 2005 and 2007. In CL qualifier against CA Osasuna on 22 August 2006, he prepared the decisive 1:1 by Nigel de Jong before. In 2008 he took part with the Namibian national team at the African Cup of Nations in Ghana.

Coach

In the spring of 2013, Benjamin returned to 1860 and completed an internship in Nachwuchleistungszentrum coach of the Lions. In the season 2013/14 he took over the main responsibility of the U13 Sechzger.

Special

Private life
