Collon

Collon ( Irish: Collann ) is a small town in County Louth on the east of the Republic of Ireland.

Collon, located about 12 km north west of Drogheda, County Louth in the southwest, near the border with County Meath, on the National Road N2, 9 km north of Slane and 10 km south of Ardee.

The population of Collon was determined during Census 2006, 564 persons, representing an increase of 140 persons or 33% over the 2002 census.

In Collon is the New Mellifont Abbey Trappist; the historical Mellifont Abbey of the Cistercians was only a few kilometers south of Collon in Mellifont.
