Collonge-Bellerive

Collonge -Bellerive is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland.

The parish includes the villages Collonge, Vésenaz and Saint- Maurice and the hamlet Cherre, Bellerive, La Repentance and La Capite.

History

In Collonge -Bellerive is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, one of the best preserved in lake-dwellings of the later Bronze Age ( 1000 BC - 900 BC).

Collonge -Bellerive belonged to the county of Geneva, before it was Savoyard 1401. In 1792 the municipalities Collonge, Vésenaz and Saint- Maurice were merged to the municipality Collonge -Bellerive and came to France. 1814-1816 was Collonge -Bellerive to Sardinia before it became part of the canton of Geneva.

Celebrities

The best-known and short-term residents was the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. For him, this is a residence with several villas, tunnel and bunker was built in a huge park. The only time he came up with about 5,000 attendants to ocular surgery.
