Colmar-Berg
Colmar- Berg ( Luxembourgish Colmer - Bierg ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in the canton of Mersch. Together with the communities Bettendorf, Diekirch, Ettelbrück, drake things and Colmar-Berg Schieren forms the core of the Nordstad. This region is adjacent to the cities of Luxembourg and Esch -sur-Alzette, the third development pole of the Grand Duchy.
The village is located about four kilometers south of Ettelbrück at the confluence of the Alzette in Attert. In Colmar- Berg district, Castle Hill, the residence of Grand Duke Henri, the head of state of Luxembourg.
Composition of the community
The municipality comprises the villages of mountain, Colmar and Welsdorf.
History
1941 was founded in occupied Colmar-Berg, a National Political Education Institute for Girls.
By the Law of 25 March 1991, the municipality " Bierg " was (mountain ) renamed " Colmer - Bierg " ( Colmar-Berg ).
Twinning
Since 17 November 2004, there is twinned with the town of Weilburg, Germany.
Business
Goodyear has over 3000 employees, is one of the largest employers in Luxembourg.
In 1957, Goodyear Luxembourg in the Goodyear Innovation Center Luxembourg ( GICL ) developed the tires for the European and Asian market.
In the work Colmar-Berg tires for trucks and earthmoving equipment ( Earthmover ) are produced.
