Colmnitzbach

Railway viaduct in the Dresden- Chemnitz on the Colmnitzbach

The Colmnitzbach is about 12 km long right tributary of the Bobritzsch, which rises on the southeastern outskirts of Pretzschendorf.

Course

It flows through the town and its district Colmnitz in a northwesterly direction. Here since 1862 leads the 23 -meter-high railway viaduct Dresden- Chemnitz over the river valley. His further course he takes on the southwestern edge of the Tharandter forest. Here it flows through a deep wooded valley between the actual Tharandter forest and the upstream forested ridge of Tännicht. Here, the Colmnitzbach passed the Lips Tullian rock and the geographical center of Saxony. From 1921 to 1971 here drove the narrow gauge railway Klingenberg - Colmnitz top Dittmannsdorf. On the southern edge of Obernaundorf ( Freiberg ) it flows into the Bobritzsch.

On 12-13. August 2002, it came through the flood of Colmnitz in the villages considerable damage.
