Colocolo (tribal chief)

Colo Colo ( from Mapudungun colo-colo, " mountain cat ", . Approximately 1490 -ca 1555) was a Cacique (leader) of the Mapuche.

Colo Colo in 1551 followed Caupolicán as the top military leader of the Mapuche. Along with this and Lautaro he commanded the Mapuche in the Battle of Tucapel ( 1553), in which the Spanish army under Pedro de Valdivia was beaten.

After this Cacique not only roads in Chile have been named, but especially the most popular Chilean football club Colo -Colo.
