Cologna Veneta

Cologna Veneta is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8666 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. The community is located about 34 kilometers southeast of Verona, about 30 kilometers southwest of Vicenza and about 40 km west- southwest of Padua. Cologna Veneta is immediately adjacent to the province of Vicenza. Through the community of Guà flows.

History

The area was originally settled by the Veneti and the Euganeern. The fact that already, maybe there was an army camp in the time of Augustus a settlement can be assigned to archaeological finds. With the end of the Middle Ages Cologna Veneta was part of the Venetian Republic.

Traffic

The railway station on the former railway route from Treviso to Ostiglia is 1987 now abandoned with the closure of the track. Through the village leads the former Strada Statale 500 di Lonigo or del Colognese.
