Colonial Order of the Star of Italy

The Colonial Order of the Star of Italy ( ital.Ordine coloniale della Stella d' Italia ) was on 18 January 1914 by King Vittorio Emanuele III. donated by Italy in five classes and could be given to those who had rendered special services to the interests of the Italian colonies.

Order of classes

The number of members to be awarded annually was regulated:

  • Grand Cross on 4 members
  • Grand Officer on 7 members
  • Commander to 20 members
  • Officer on 50 members
  • Knight on 150 members

Order decoration

The religious character is a fünfspitziger, white enamelled gold star with golden balls on the tips. This is the Italian star, called Stella d' Italia, dar. In red enamelled medallion the intertwined and crowned initials of the founder VE ( Vittorio Emanuele ). That is why a green enameled, gold-rimmed hoop closes with the below year 1911. The date refers to the occupation of the later colony of Libya. Verso in completely red enamelled and gilt-edged medallion the three-line inscription AL MERITO COLONIALE ( For colonial merit).

Carrying method

Großkreuzler wore the award to a sash from the left shoulder with a golden Breast Star. Grand Officers as well as the commanders around the neck, but with a somewhat reduced silver breast star. Officers and knights decorated religious character to the band on the left side of the chest, with a rosette was mounted on the tape of the officers.

All decorations except for the Knights between religious character and support ring a crown.

The ribbon is red with a narrow white side stripes.

Others

With the loss of the colonies and the abdication of the last Italian king Umberto II in 1946, the order was not awarded.
