Colonial Service

The Colonial Service ( German: colonial service ) was a public service, who held the administrative authority of the British Empire under the authority of the Secretary of State for the Colonies and the Colonial Office in London.

Before the 1930s, there was no uniform Colonial Service and also no uniform services. Each colony and protectorate each had their own services and future officers competed directly from the management. At a desired transfer to another colony, the applicants had to apply there own again.

In the late 1960s, the Colonial Service to the Diplomatic Service of the United Kingdom was united.

For the staff of the Colonial Service following ranks and positions were provided ( in ascending order): [Note 1]
