Color printing

A color is referred to in the printing art, a printing method in which a plurality of inks are used, but also produced by means of single color printing.

A distinction

  • The three- color printing with the primary colors cyan, magenta and yellow (CMY ) model,
  • Four-color printing, in which a black ink is added ( CMYK color model). For wet -on-wet printing technology brings first to the black, so that the contrast is preserved in the image,
  • The multi-color printing with various defined spot colors.

The basic colors are in contrast to the spot colors also known as process colors. Color gradations occur in offset printing by screening. Previously, a color separation must take place.

In the history of industrial color printing became the chromolithography, patented in 1837 by Godefroy Engelmann, importance. She was up in the 1930s, the current methods for color illustrations of high quality.
