The Colorado School of Mines (also called CSM ) is a technical state university in Golden / Colorado, about 15 kilometers east of Denver. At the University of 4,700 students are enrolled. The university specializes in Engineering and Applied Sciences.

History

Golden, formerly known as Golden City, was founded in 1859 and served as a supply station for the mining industry in the area. 1866 reached Bishop George M. Randall, the city and saw the need for higher education institutions. He began planning for a university, which should include a Faculty of Mining. The university was founded in 1873-1874 as a School of Mines of the Episcopal Church and in 1876, after the founding of the State of Colorado to a state university. In 1889, the first international student graduating in 1898 and graduated the first woman.

Sports

The sports teams are called the CSM Orediggers. Especially the mountain bike team is known for their successes.
