Colusa County, California
The Colusa County is a county located north of the state of California, United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is in Colusa.
History
The county was founded in 1850 and is therefore one of the first counties in California. 1856 and 1891 parts were delivered to the Tehama County and Glenn County. The name of Colusa is derived from a Native American tribe who lived on the west side of the Sacramento River.

According to the census of 2000, there were 18,804 people in Colusa County. There were 6,097 households and 4,578 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 64.29 % White, 0.55 % African American, 2.33 % Native American, 1.21 % Asian, 0.39 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 26.68 % from other races groups; 4.54% were descended from two or more races. 46.54 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 6,097 households out of which 41.40 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.60 % were married couples living together, 9.60% had a female householder with no husband. 24.90% were non-families. 21.50% of all households and 10.10% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.01 and the average family size was 3.51 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 31.60 % under the age of 18, 10.30 % from 18 to 24, 26.90 % from 25 to 44 years, 19.80% between 45 and 64 years and 11.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 103.40 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.80 males.
The median income for a household was $ 35,062, and the median income for a family was $ 40,138. Males had a median income of $ 32,210, women $ 21,521. The per capita income was $ 14,730. 16.10% percent of the population and 13.00% of families are below the poverty line. 19.50% of those under age 18 and 8.20% were 65 years or older.
