Colzate

Colzate is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 1655 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Colzate is located 20 km northeast of the provincial capital of Bergamo and 70 km northeast of the city of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Casnigo, Gorno, Oneta and Vertova. The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana Valle Seraiana.

Attractions

  • The Sanctuary ( Sanctuary ) San Patrizio is located above the village. The oldest part dates back to the 14th century; Enlargements have followed from the 15th to the 18th century. Inside there are numerous frescoes and paintings. 1986 and 1999 restorations were carried out. The Feast of the Holy Patricius on March 17, one of the major events.
  • The village church, dedicated to San Maurizio, probably dates from the year 1001, but is Baroque in its present form. Feast day is celebrated on September 22. As Kopatron the place of St. Sebastian also plays a role in the local folk culture.
