Comalcalco

Comalcalco is about 60 km northwest of Villahermosa located in the Mexican state of Tabasco archaeological site and city. The name means in German translates to " The House of Comales ". " Comal " is tortilla pan.

Is the westernmost temple of the Mayan culture in this place. For lack of limestone, the usual building material, the buildings, however, were built here of fired bricks, which are held together by a mortar made from oyster shells.

The buildings are mainly from the Late Classical 700-900 AD Many tiles are artfully decorated with figures. The most important buildings are the North Plaza, as well as the pyramids Gran Acropolis ( Akropolis Large ) and Acropolis Este (Eastern Acropolis ).
