Combat air patrol

An air monitoring applications (English combat air patrol, CAP ) is a defensive use of combat aircraft.

It is flown in a spacious rectangular pattern and a predetermined route to defend a particular area effectively against enemy air forces. This application provides neither discovering and destroying ground targets still a significant deviation from planned routes to intercept enemy aircraft. Benefits of CAP- use are the ability to make and intercept enemy air forces long before their actual goals. This is of particular importance when opposing forces are expected with long-range missiles configuration ( for example, cruise missiles ), which can be fired already many kilometers before the finish.

Depending on the specific objective exist differently labeled forms of CAP missions. For example, have ResCap inserts ( Rescue Combat Air Patrol ), the goal is to cover a rescue from enemy action while using FORCAP inserts (Forward Combat Air Patrol ) should be secured the airspace over enemy territory until the arrival of bombers.
