Combloux

Combloux is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Combloux is located on 971 m above sea level. M., south of Sallanches, about 53 km southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The village stretches a scenic location with views of Mont Blanc on the western slope of the Arvetals, approximately 400 m above the valley basin of Sallanches, in the Savoy Alps to the staircase to the summit of Megève, in the southeastern Faucigny.

The area of ​​16.95 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the upper Arvetals. The northern boundary runs along the hillside below the village. From here, the municipality's area extends beyond the relatively gently sloping, partly with meadows and pastures, partly lined with forest slope of Combloux up on the ridge Croix des Salles (1757 m above sea level. M. ) west of the summit of Megève. A narrow tail extends to the southeast on the slopes of Mont d' Arbois, where with 1784 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Combloux is achieved.

At Combloux include various hamlets and holiday settlements and isolated farms, including:

  • Ormaret ( 1125 m above sea level. M. ) on the eastern slopes of the Croix des Salles

  • Prairy (950 m above sea level. M. ) on the northern slopes of Mont d' Arbois

Neighboring communities of Combloux are Domancy in the north, Saint- Gervais- les- Bains in the east, Demi-Quartier and Megève in the south and Sallanches in the West.

History

Combloux is mentioned in the 13th century first documented under the name Comblo. The place name is derived possibly from the Latin word cumulus ( heap, mound ).

Attractions

The village of Saint-Nicolas Church was built in 1704 in Baroque style. It has a Baroque altar (18th century) and a bell tower from the 19th century. In Medon the Chapelle de Médonnet stands. Combloux is characterized by numerous homes and remarkable Farms traditional Savoyard style.

Population

With 2080 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Combloux one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Since the mid- 1970s, a significant increase in population was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area. Outside the village numerous houses and holiday settlements were built.

Economy and infrastructure

Combloux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today there are various operations of small businesses. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, especially in Sallanches and Cluses, their work. In recent decades, Combloux has developed into an important tourist resort. The community is specialized in both the summer tourism as well as on winter tourism (various ski lifts) and closely associated with the ski resorts of Megève and La Giettaz.

The place is a good infrastructure. It lies on the main road N 212, which runs from Sallanches via Megeve to Albertville. Further road links exist with Domancy and Saint- Gervais- les- Bains. The nearest links to the motorway A 40 is located at a distance of about 9 km.
