Combrit

Combrit ( Kombrid Breton ) is a commune in the Finistère department 3620 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The place is located in the southwest of Brittany on the river Odet near the Atlantic coast.

Location

Quimper is situated 18 kilometers north, Brest 60 km north- north-west of Paris and about 490 km to the east.

Infrastructure

In Quimper are the next departures of the highway E 60 (Brest -Nantes ) and a regional train station in the predominantly parallel railway line. Combrit itself is connected through the department of road D 44 with its neighboring communities.

The train station of Brest is the end of TGV Atlantique to Paris. The airports Aéroport de Brest Brittany, near Brest and Lorient Bretagne Sud Aéroport de Lorient at the next regional airports.

Sainte-Marine

At Combrit heard the village of Sainte- Marine, located directly on the Odet estuary. It is named after its chapel dating from 15-16. Century, dedicated to Sainte Moran (later known as Sainte Maraine and currently known as Sainte Marine ).

The local port was an important trading center for wines from Bordeaux and the Saintonge in the Middle Ages. During the religious wars here Huguenots settled.
