Comenius programme

The Comenius program is a furnished 1997 program of the European Union with the aim to promote cooperation between schools of all levels and types of schools within the European Union and the mobility of students and teachers. It is since 2005 part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.

At the Comenius program everyone can participate, participating to the end of upper secondary education in the educational process from preschool. These are pupils, teachers, local authorities, institutions and organizations of the school administration, non-governmental organizations, teacher training institutes, universities and other educational staff.

With the Lifelong Learning Programme, the European Union promotes 2007-2023 European cooperation in education. The program covers four sub-programs with all levels of education and age groups: Comenius for school education, Erasmus for higher education, Leonardo da Vinci for vocational education and Grundtvig for adult education. These programs will be continued together with other EU exchange programs from 2014 under the name of Erasmus .

It is named after the educationalist Johann Amos Comenius.
