Comisión Federal de Electricidad

Comisión Federal de Electricidad ( CFE) is a state-owned Mexican company with headquarters in Mexico City.

The company has a far-reaching monopoly in the production and supply of electricity due to the Mexican Constitution. The conversion is almost U.S. $ 20 billion, the company employs more than 80,000 employees.

1992, the power generation for private enterprises was opened. But even today include two-thirds of the installed capacity of the CFE. Independent producers control 9.3 GW of installed capacity, but they are bound to the generated electricity to the CFE for sale, which holds the monopoly for power distribution.

At the hydropower plants of the CFE among others, the El Cajon Dam and the La Yesca Dam belongs.

On 12 October 2009, CFE has taken over the power company Luz y Fuerza
