COMIT

COMIT was the first programming language, allowing the processing of strings. It was developed under the leadership of Dr. Victor Yngve in the years 1957-1965 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on a mainframe IBM series 700/7000. Yngve lay language for use in linguistics, specifically in the area of ​​computer-aided translation of natural languages. The development of COMIT was the impetus for the development of SNOBOL by David J. Farber, Ralph E. Griswold and Ivan P. Polensky.
