Commission of National Education

Komisja Edukacji Narodowej (KEN ) [ kɔ'm ʲ Izya ɛdu'katsji narɔ'dɔvɛj ] ( German: "Commission on National Education ") was a school and Education Commission in the Kingdom of Poland - Lithuania. It was founded on October 14, 1773 by the Polish Sejm and king Stanisław August Poniatowski. Because of their far-reaching authority and autonomy it is considered as the first historical ministry of education in the world and one of the greatest achievements of the Polish Enlightenment. 2011, the Archive of the Education Commission was included in the World Documentary Heritage by UNESCO.
