Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe

The Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (English Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, CSCE ), also known as the U.S. Helsinki Commission, is an independent agency of the U.S. government. It was in 1976 set by the U.S. Congress to monitor compliance with the Helsinki Final Act and other commitments of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe ( OSCE) and push forward.

The Commission consists of nine members of the Senate and House of Representatives, and each one delegate from the U.S. State Department, the Department of Defense and the Ministry of Economy. Chairman since 2006, the Senator of the State of Maryland, Ben Cardin (Democratic Party).
