Commode

A chest of drawers ( to French commode " convenient " ) is a full- drawer cabinet furniture. It was developed from the chest, which was comparatively cumbersome filled from the top, or the Cabinet. Compared to the chest it was felt to be more practical than kommod. Commodes are in use since the early 18th century.

The name of the Düsseldorf cabaret Kom (m) ödchen derives from this.
