Common Cause

Common Cause is a US-based non-governmental organization based in Washington, DC. Founded in 1970 by John W. Gardner.

The aim of the group is to promote transparency in political institutions of the United States. The focus of the commitment of the organization lies on party funding reform, electoral reform, ethics in government, government responsibility and the media. Other areas of employment are health care, environmental protection, and defense.

From 1980 to 1996 the organization published the Common Cause Magazine.
