Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 35 millimeters. They have gray forewings that have a yellow border, which is narrower towards the wing tip. The hind wings are colored pale yellow. In their resting position the blades are slightly curled.

Occurrence

They come in almost all of Europe and Asia prior to Japan. They live in warm, light deciduous forests, bushy heath fields and on verheideten dry grasslands both in level and in upland areas. They fly from June to August.

Way of life

The nocturnal moths can be found during the day sitting on heather or thyme. The caterpillars are sitting on lichen- covered rocks or tree trunks, where they stone, tree, - and eat lichen Stock. They overwinter and pupate in a cocoon between lichen and tree bark.
