Common Warehouse Metamodel

The Common Warehouse Metamodel ( CWM ) is an Object Management Group (OMG) standard developed for description, access and share arising in data warehouse process metadata. It is intended to enable interoperability between different data warehouse systems and tools.

Use the CWM can be described, for example, the data schemas used in the ETL process of source and target databases and between these transformations take place. It also allows the definition of mapping rules between the physical model of a data warehouse and that build on logic models such as the one OLAP tool.

The Common Warehouse Metamodel uses the Unified Modeling Language notation as a language and the core of its own meta-model. Created metadata descriptions can be personalized with the XML language XML Metadata Interchange ( XMI) replace, or can be made accessible via the intermediate step of an Interface Definition Language (IDL) different programming languages.
