Communications and Networking Riser

Communication and Networking Riser ( CNR) is a term from the PC hardware area. A CNR is a special slot on the motherboard (English mainboard ) of a personal computer can be plugged into the expansion-card.

CNR is an industry standard, which was developed by Intel to set up components such as modem, network, or access to a computer chip. The cards are not widely used today because most of the functions of already onboard chips are provided (eg, Ethernet LAN) or an external modem for the home user.
