Community of the Ark

The Ark is a communitarian community. It was founded in 1948 by Lanza del Vasto, one of the most important European students of Mahatma Gandhi, was founded in France. Foundations of living together in communities are serving and parts, the desire to lead a simple life, the respect for life and non-violence. The aim of the founder was to implement Gandhi's ideals in a European context. The Ark Community has been an important driving force for the peace movement in Western Europe.
