Community of the Lamb

The Community of the Lamb is a religious institute of diocesan right in the Roman Catholic Church. For the Community of the Lamb are the Little Sisters of the Lamb and the Little Brothers of the Lamb. The religious institute is part of the religious family of the Dominicans.

History

The Little Sisters of the Lamb were canonically approved on February 6, 1983 by the Bishop of Perpignan - Elne Jean Chabbert OFM. The recognition as a genuine branch of the Dominican order was made on July 16, 1983 by the Master of the Order of the Dominicans, Vincent de Couesnongle. The male branch of the Community of the Lamb, the Little Brothers of lamb were confirmed canonically on 8 August 1990. Since 29 June 1996, the Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, OP is the bishop in charge.

Today there are about 130 sisters and 30 brothers, some of them are priests. The Community has offices in nine countries. Spirituality
