Compagnie des Alpes

The Compagnie des Alpes ( also Cie des Alpes or CdA ) is a founded in 1989 in Chambéry operators of ski resorts. The company is 42 percent owned by the state company Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, and is listed in the French CAC Small. The amusement parks of CdA received annually about 10 million visitors and the company is the second largest theme park operators in Europe.

History

The French state-owned bank Caisse des Dépôts took over in 1989, the ski in Tignes, Chamonix, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Peisey -Vallandry and Les Menuires. Thus, the Compagnie des Alpes was founded on 18 November 1994, the newly formed company took the Paris Stock Exchange, the Second Marché. Revenues raised through the IPO funds were used for the further expansion of the ski area network. There the territories Grand Massif and Méribel were taken over and through the acquisition of Courmayeur, the Italian market was opened up. Shortly thereafter, ski resorts such as Verbier, Saas Fee and the Aletsch Riederalp were partly taken over. The criteria were, respectively, that there are snow-sure regions in a good location in the middle & high price sector.

As the sole specialization was classified on the ski as very risky, took over the CdA 2002 listed Grevin et Cie, which was created in 1989 from the Parc Asterix. The Grevin et Cie has two aquariums, a miniature park, the waxwork museum, Musée Grevin, the Dolphinarium Haderwijk, the Adventure Park Hellendoorn, Fort Fun Adventure Park and the Parc Bagatelle. Additionally, in 2003 the Aquapark were taken in Le Bouveret and 2004 the Panorama Park Sauerland. Also in 2004, took over the CdA Pleasurewood Hills Park in England.

In 2005, the zoo CdA Planete Sauvage safari park in Port Saint Pere and the Mer de Sable. In the same year the company's headquarters from Chambery to Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, was relocated. 2006 for 240 million euros of five parks in the Star Parks Group ( Walibi Belgium Walibi World Walibi Rhone -Alpes Walibi Aquitaine and Bellewaerde ) adopted and in the course of this acquisition, the name Grevin et Cie has been stored and renamed the theme park division in CDAparks.

The CdA was divided in 2007, the ski resorts of Sofival (Val d'Isere, La Rosiere, Valmorel and Avoriaz ) in the CDAski one. The family owners of Sofival was involved in doing a ten per cent of the capital of CdA.
