Compañía Cervecera de Puerto Rico

The Compañía Cervecera de Puerto Rico ( formerly known as Cerveceria India) is a Puerto Rican brewery, which is mainly known for its brand of beer Medalla Light and has won her several awards. It has its seat at Mayagüez, on the west coast of Puerto Rico.

History

The brewery was founded in 1937 by Alfonso, Sabino and Ramon Valdes Cobian in Mayagüez, the largest city on the west coast of Puerto Rico. The brothers followed the example of her father Don Ramon Valdes, the 1910 Mayaguez Light, Power and Ice Company founded. 1938 was their first beer Cerveza India, presented to the public. Today, the Compañía Cervecera de Puerto Rico is the only remaining brewery in Puerto Rico.
