Comte AC-4

The Comte AC-4 is a single-engine aircraft of the Swiss manufacturer Alfred Comte. It was built from 1928 to 1930.

History

This aircraft was the culmination of the aircraft career of Alfred Comte and is considered the first production aircraft manufactured in Switzerland. The aircraft was built in two series. The first series consisted of six aircraft. However, the first series was sold out even before its completion. This was refilled a second series, which bore the additional title " Gentleman ".

Use

The AC-4 was used as tourism, education, postal and towing aircraft.

A copy served Swissair (Reg. CH -262, from 1934 HB- IKO ) for domestic flights.

Another specimen (Reg. CH -285 ) served from 1931 to 1938 the Swiss Air Force as a training aircraft.

An AC-4 (Reg. HB- USI) was founded in 1939, initiated by Ernst Wyss, former chief pilot of War Technical Department ( KTA) of the Federal Konstruktionswerkstätte, retooled for the first wood gas-powered aircraft in the world. For an hour's flight 34 kg of charcoal were needed.
