Comte de Troisville

Jean -Armand du Peyrer, Comte de Treville, also de Trois Ville ( * 1598 in Oloron -Sainte -Marie, † May 8, 1672 ) was a French officer during the reign of Louis XIII. It finds mention in Alexandre Dumas ' novel " The Three Musketeers", which was published in 1844.

Treville was born in 1598 in Oloron -Sainte -Marie, the son of Marie d' Aramitz and Jean du Peyrer. The father bought the estate in 1607 Trois- Villes. The nobility associated with the acquisition enabled the son later ( Gardes Françaises - ) to pursue a career as an officer in the Royal Guard, which he joined in 1616. As Musketeer 1627-1628 he took part in the siege of La Rochelle in part. 1634 Treville was Lieutenant of the Musketeers of the Guard. Several relatives Treville joined the Musketeers, including in 1640 his cousin Armand de Sillègue d' Athos d' Autevielle and Henry d' Aramitz.

After the death of Louis XIII. raised his widow Anna as regent for the underage nor Louis XIV in 1643 Treville the title of count. Due to differences with the First Minister Jules Mazarin Treville came back in 1646 from his post at the Royal Guard, and retired to his estates. There he built according to the plans of the architect François Mansart, the Château d' Eliçabéa in Trois- Villes, where he died in 1672.
