Comte George Raphaël Béthenod de Montbressieux

Raph was short for Raphael Georges Marquis de Bethenod Montbressieux ( born February 8, 1910 in Buenos Aires, † June 16, 1994 in Neuilly -sur- Marne, Seine- Saint- Denis ), a Franco- Argentine racing driver.

The son of a French count and an Argentine began his Rennkarierre in the U.S., before he came to Europe in 1935 and an Alfa Romeo was highly successful in the private team of Raymond Sommer. After a serious accident in the 24- hour race at Le Mans in 1937, he focused on Voiturette race.

Between 1942 and about 1944, he ran Automobiles Électraph in Cannes.

After the Second World War, he played two seasons racing with Maserati and reached a third place at the Grand Prix of Albi in 1946. For 1948, however, he earned a Talbot, crashed hard in Albi. A fracture of the skull, associated with memory misfires, never let him return to the old form again. After a few timid attempts in 1950, he ended his career and worked as a chauffeur and car rental on the Riviera.
