Côn Đảo National Park

The National Park Côn Đạo ( Vietnamese Quốc gia Vuon Côn Đạo ) is a forest reserve on Côn Đạo, Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Vietnam province. The park is located east of the southern tip of Vietnam in the north zone of the South China Sea. It includes a part of the island and the surrounding sea. After the islands was made in 1983 under public protection, one ten years later expanded the protection and dedicated the park into a national park. The park is characterized by a unique ecosystem. Over 200 species of coral and as many coral species as well as sea turtles and the rare dugong find a home here. Rare birds such as the two-color pigeon or the red-billed tropic bird nest in the island world.

2006 declared a UNESCO delegation that this park was likely to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since then, the Vietnamese state is attempting to this award.
