Concert for Diana

The Concert for Diana was a concert at the new Wembley Stadium in London, England, United Kingdom, which on 1 July 2007 in honor of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who would have been 46 years old on that day, took place.

It was a memorial concert for her 10th death anniversary. The musical event was moderated by Diana's sons Prince William and Prince Harry, who could win more of the currently best-known rock and pop artists for this concert. The concert had an estimated 500 million television viewers in 140 countries. 22,500 tickets that were provided in December 2006 for the sale, were sold out within 17 minutes. Around 63,000 people at Wembley imaginary together with the artists the come in a car accident on August 31, 1997 Princess Diana. Among the special guests were among other Princess Beatrice of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, Princess Eugenie of York, members of the Spencer family, Kate Middleton, Chelsy Davy and Kiefer Sutherland. The concert started at 16:00 clock and ended at about 22:15 local time clock. There were two brief interruptions.

On 5 November 2007, a DVD box set was released with the complete concert.

Television transmission

The Concert for Diana was broadcast in 140 countries. In the UK, BBC One and the radio station BBC Radio 2 transferred the whole concert. In Germany, RTL 2 had the broadcasting rights, sending time offset from 20:15 Central European Summer Time clock until 0:15 the highlights. In the United States transferred Music: High Definition and VH1 the complete concert, which NBC showed the highlights in a one-hour special. In Canada, CTV stations showed a two-hour special. VH1 Latin America broadcast in Latin American and the Caribbean and in Central America. Electronic Media Network broadcast the concert in Africa and FOX8 in Australia. The Star Group showed the concert in several Asian countries, except in Japan where WOWOW had the broadcasting rights.

Charity

The artists waived their fees completely. The proceeds benefited a number of charities, such as the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, Centrepoint and Sentebale, a foundation which was established in April 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. It helps vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho - particularly those who have become orphans due to AIDS.

Remembrance service

On 31 August 2007, the 10th anniversary of the death of Lady Diana, a memorial service was held in London in the Guards Chapel. Among the 500 guests were Queen Elizabeth II, Diana's former husband Prince Charles, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the singer Elton John and Cliff Richard. 200 million television showers followed the event, the emotional highlight was the speech by Prince Harry.
