Concha Piquer

Concha Piquer, actually María de la Concepción López Piquer ( born December 8, 1908 in Valencia, † December 12, 1990 in Madrid) was a Spanish singer and actress.

Concha Piquer was a renowned interpreter of the copla Andaluza, a song form that enjoyed in Spain, especially in the 1940s popular. In 1922, she came at the age of 14 to New York and later sang among others along with Eddie Cantor, Al Jolson and Fred Astaire. In 1923 she had a cameo in the film project phono From Far Seville by Lee de Forest. The film was shown at the Rivoli Theatre in New York. She also sang a song in 1927 in the first sound film The Jazz Singer.
