Concord Records

Concord Records is a set up in 1972 by the former car dealer Carl Jefferson Jazz label. Previously Jeffersen had (then Concord Summer Festival ) based in Concord, California in 1969 the immediately successful " Concord Jazz Festival ". He started the label, financed by the sale of his Ford car dealer in order to listen to his favorite musicians on board can ( he was a supporter of the then marginalized mainstream jazz) and started with some jazz guitarists ( Herb Ellis, Dee Bell, Charlie Byrd, Barney Kessel, Joe Pass ). Other musicians of the label are Mel Tormé, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Stan Getz, George Shearing, Marian McPartland ( Is not Misbehavin ': Live at the Jazz Showcase 2000), Shelly Manne, Bud Shank, Laurindo Almeida, Dave Brubeck, Diane Schuur, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ray Brown, Cal Collins, Bill Evans, Scott Hamilton, Woody Herman, as well as Barry Manilow, Vanessa Williams, Bob Maize and Paula Abdul. In 1999, the label of Hal Gaba and television producers Norman Lear was acquired and relocated its headquarters to Beverly Hills. In 2004 she bought Fantasy Records and 2005 Telarc Records. The company is now called the Concord Music Group.

The sub label " Concord Picante " is dedicated to Latin Jazz (eg, Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaría, Poncho Sanchez ), " Concord Classic" of classical music.
