Concordia sulla Secchia

Concordia sulla Secchia is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8860 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Modena in the Emilia- Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 31 kilometers north- northeast of Modena at the Secchia, a small tributary of the Po. Concordia sulla Secchia is immediately adjacent to the province of Mantua ( Lombardy ). The municipality was part of the Unione dei comuni modenesi dell'Area North.

History

Since the beginning of the 14th century Concordia sulla Secchia was under the rule of the nobles Mirandola, a few kilometers east of Concordia. The Pico family certain several centuries the events in and around Concordia. 1510 Concordia was destroyed by the troops of Pope Julius II.
